Under the initiative of Marie , we realized yesterday Propulsion (between Gatineau and Lachute) for a day rafting.
the program, a descent of 2:30 followed by a lunch followed by a second run of 2:30 (both than done) and a BBQ to cap off the day.
must admit that we did not really know what to expect and JP was not very keen on the idea. I understand getting up at 6 o'clock is not the best thing to start a weekend ..
So we had an appointment with Anne Marie and Frank a little after 7 am and then 1:15 of road to get to the center. We were the first to arrive since the appointment was at 9:30. This left us time to drink coffee, but mostly to see what awaited us through streaming video bleak .. And I can tell you that seeing the video, it was not proud of it! We saw these rafts capsize and not about .. I ended up asking me what I was doing there.

At 9:30 we were given safety instructions which we did not really reassured either. We began to understand that we had more chance of winning the lottery than to end the day dry! It took about 20 minutes to prepare ie don our wetsuits and lifejackets over headsets that were both required.
And at 10, was left for the adventure! Our raft was a raft for ten people: another group of 4 + our instructor.
So we made the descent through the baby bear, mama bear, papa bear, washer, dryer, all-nude hole and the monster .. The washer was really nice, we are not fallen into the water this place but what we were told, you feel clean when you come out, hence the aptly named!
Despite our misgivings, we have a wonderful day. As we were all beginners, our instructor, Catherine, told us what to do (paddle forward, backward, stop paddling) or when to pay attention to the rocks beneath or outside the water (ie when to jump into the middle of the raft if you do not want it to eject.) In effect at this time of year, there is normally a lot more water flow. But since there was not much snow last winter and excess water from melting snow has not occurred .. To say, yesterday we were at 35 Mcube cons over 300 in the same period last year! The level of the water being low, it should be very careful on the rocks. Indeed from the beginning of our first run, our raft was caught in a boulder field which has forced us to put ourselves in the water quickly to allow our raft forward. I was surprised that the water is so good (18C), we would have stayed a little longer but it was quickly re-board the raft to continue the descent.

We had a cloudy and then cleared to finish the rain (like rain tropical) but as we were already all wet, it changes little. It was very nice to paddle in the rain!
Here are some photos:
So we spent a wonderful day with our gang and we are eager to start today even if it was just sore all over!
