Weekend enchanting

We took advantage of the arrival of Sophie and Caroline to go for a weekend cottage in Acton Vale. We cast our sights on the chalet the Enchanter and we were not disappointed!

Our cottage

the appointment:
  • Nature

Black River passing in front of the cottage

  • Barbecue with the bison, skewers of deer, ostrich, of chipos, merguez and spine Pork BBQ or mustard! Yum, yum, bravo to the chef!

  • Good wine and muscat)
  • pancakes

  • Gaze control, both at once!

  • Spa + pool: we took advantage of day or night! It was also a first for Sophie, who I think was quite convinced by the experience!

  • And the must: a pool table (I can tell you that John Paul took advantage and he wants one for later ...)

Oops! I think I just to return the white ...

Another weekend as we like with the combo winner: friends, good food and relaxation! And yet we have not even taken advantage of darts or kayaks that we had also available!
Now we're back to where the Montreal Jazz Festival has just begun and already in full swing. It must be said that Caroline and Sophie are just coming for the festival so we'll still let them enjoy it!

Banh Mi Cao Thang

new restaurant is the favorite of John Paul. Saturday we decided to go eat in Chinatown and it was a moment that he wanted to test Banh Mi Cao Thang restaurant specializes in Vietnamese sandwiches.

For those unfamiliar, a Vietnamese sandwich is a sandwich consisting of a half baguette topped with grated carrots, cilantro, cucumber, Maggi sauce and choice of meat (usually Vietnamese pate and bacon but find little in the spring rolls or grilled chicken, etc.)

As he was going to work a little Saturday morning, we decided to return directly to Chinatown because we were also to go shopping. It had been two weeks since we had no rice at home (catastrophe!!) So we went out and bought a bag of 22 kg (whew, we are relieved!).

We went at 1082 St. Laurent Blvd in Banh Mi Cao Thang where John Paul ordered a pork sandwich and I, three spring rolls and a bottle of water, all for the modest sum of $ 9. And my god, what was it good!

For my part, I am delighted to have finally found a place in Montreal, where I can buy good spring rolls. For his part, Jean-Paul was over the moon. So that just about every hour in the afternoon, he told me "I do not want to repeat myself but what he was good my sandwich for lunch" .. He even continued during the intermission of the concert by Pierre Lapointe!

Finally here is a new address which is in addition to the house and Kamfung Jade Garden!

As Banh Mi Cao Thang is more or less on the way to work by Jean-Paul, I feel that one will often eat in the evening next month;) yum yum

Lost, late

A midnight, after our two concerts Lapointe, then we are back to watch the end of Lost.

And yes these days, we were full marathon Lost: was watching 3 seasons in 4 weeks .. During the broadcast the last episode, we were in NYC with the parents of John Paul. It was funny because the episode was broadcast in Times Square. It was passed on returning to a restaurant and we saw lots of people seated audience watching with great interest the end of this saga: they should be well 200/300! Well now we also we have seen! For the moment I have not decided yet what I think of the end. I think it is difficult to end a series as complex and not to be disappointed because there are still many unanswered questions, but we suspected that the end still leave things open. It was a bit the concept of Lost. It's still weird to say that this now it's over. I must still say that this series is very impressive and I'm glad I saw all 6 seasons. It gives also want to re-watch it all now know the end! But it should be good to have more time for now I'm already going to make me happy to watch the first season of Glee which seems very promising!

Lapointe x2

We again had the chance to attend a performance of Pierre Lapointe .

For the closing night of Francofolies, our favorite singer Quebec officially started his tour "Pierre Lapointe solo piano" and as usual, we were conquered. It must be said that we discovered this artist in 2007 and yesterday it was already our 6 th concert of Pierre Lapointe (including 4 in Quebec!): When one loves, one does not count!

A still extraordinary voice and an incredible talent for playing piano. So we spent a wonderful evening full of thrills and a touch of humor. My favorite part (it's still hard to choose) was probably the resumption of his classic "two and two together." The fact that he is alone at the piano instead of being surrounded by musicians of course gives a special atmosphere in the room and although it's less because necessarily leading to a little less pace, I let myself wear with pleasure for almost 2 hours (including two encores). This allowed us to rediscover live songs from his first album he plays only rarely at these concerts!

For those who do not know, we can once again encourage you to rush to the Featured!

Our evening was even more successful than on the way home we listened to a free concert by singer Hugo Lapointe (without link with Peter) that we were pleased to discover. I actually liked it so much that I'm eager to buy his latest album this morning! The songs are very catchy and the atmosphere of the concert was very enjoyable. The concert was at 23h under the theme of the campfire. So we watched the concert around a bonfire. Any ambience! Even with a little of the Dairy Queen Sundae!

yum yum:)

Toy Story 3 Little

Yesterday was a great day for me: Friday, June 18, 2010 was the day the North American release of Toy Story 3!

From the time I was waiting for the release of this film (although it must be 5 years and I noted the date in my calendar since last October!).

Whenever I see a Pixar film, I tell myself I'll always be disappointed because my expectations enormous. Well despite the long waiting time for the release of this film, Pantoute not disappointed! Filled a real fan!

I laughed and took pleasure to see my beloved characters.

The film pulled me even a few tears. I am always surprised by the magic of their films and as long as it lasts. One leaves with a lighter heart and saying that life is beautiful! It certainly wakes up every time my child's soul.

Next Step: Cars 2 Friday, June 24, 2011. Fortunately I see Harry Potter in the meantime: set out in Part 1 November 24th, 2010!

Christmas Slogan Business

budding ballerina

Last week there was plenty to do in Montreal:
  • Francofolies Montreal,
  • The F1 Grand Prix ,
  • Fireworks Loto Quebec
  • The show at the end of the year in Victoria.
As we have priorities in life, we chose the spectacle of our beloved Victoria! We had a little afraid to find this long but finally it was not the case. The representation lasted 1:30 with around 8 groups of children. In our opinion, we have not seen the group in Victoria as long as the others .. But in any case, Victoria was very professional. I must say that it begins to get used to this is its fourth show in two weeks. It will soon have to hire a manager that if this goes well!
John Paul managed to take 300 photos in 1:30, so we knew that Victoria .. I dare not imagine what it will be the day when it will be our child on stage!

For fans of Victoria, here is a photo of our favorite little ballerina:

In addition to the Victoria group, there was a smaller group who were very Cutes. It was a bit like watching Video Gag for an hour. They did in fact not always what they asked ..

We then finished the evening with Gilbert and Berengaria was enjoying their BBQ with hot dogs, hamburgers and steak. Basically, another of those days that makes us say again that we are really in Montreal!

Hudson: fish and chips

Saturday, Berengaria and Gilbert have proposed to go to Hudson to eat Fish and Chips which means much good.

For those who do not know, Hudson is located just over 40 km from Montreal across the river Oka (Oka? Yes but remember to Okapulco ). We left at 7 (Gilbert and Berengaria had a visit from a couple of American friends) at Willow Place Inn to eat our fish and chips. And we can confirm it was pretty good!

We take this opportunity to take the ferry between Hudson and Oka and take a look back at Oka and especially go to the cheese with Oka cheese production was Monastery Lake of Two Mountains.

We bought artisan cheese Oka and Oka classic and after this beautiful walk back to Montreal!

Under the initiative of Marie , we realized yesterday Propulsion (between Gatineau and Lachute) for a day rafting.

the program, a descent of 2:30 followed by a lunch followed by a second run of 2:30 (both than done) and a BBQ to cap off the day.

must admit that we did not really know what to expect and JP was not very keen on the idea. I understand getting up at 6 o'clock is not the best thing to start a weekend ..

So we had an appointment with Anne Marie and Frank a little after 7 am and then 1:15 of road to get to the center. We were the first to arrive since the appointment was at 9:30. This left us time to drink coffee, but mostly to see what awaited us through streaming video bleak .. And I can tell you that seeing the video, it was not proud of it! We saw these rafts capsize and not about .. I ended up asking me what I was doing there.

At 9:30 we were given safety instructions which we did not really reassured either. We began to understand that we had more chance of winning the lottery than to end the day dry! It took about 20 minutes to prepare ie don our wetsuits and lifejackets over headsets that were both required.

And at 10, was left for the adventure! Our raft was a raft for ten people: another group of 4 + our instructor.

So we made the descent through the baby bear, mama bear, papa bear, washer, dryer, all-nude hole and the monster .. The washer was really nice, we are not fallen into the water this place but what we were told, you feel clean when you come out, hence the aptly named!

Despite our misgivings, we have a wonderful day. As we were all beginners, our instructor, Catherine, told us what to do (paddle forward, backward, stop paddling) or when to pay attention to the rocks beneath or outside the water (ie when to jump into the middle of the raft if you do not want it to eject.) In effect at this time of year, there is normally a lot more water flow. But since there was not much snow last winter and excess water from melting snow has not occurred .. To say, yesterday we were at 35 Mcube cons over 300 in the same period last year! The level of the water being low, it should be very careful on the rocks. Indeed from the beginning of our first run, our raft was caught in a boulder field which has forced us to put ourselves in the water quickly to allow our raft forward. I was surprised that the water is so good (18C), we would have stayed a little longer but it was quickly re-board the raft to continue the descent.

We had a cloudy and then cleared to finish the rain (like rain tropical) but as we were already all wet, it changes little. It was very nice to paddle in the rain!

Here are some photos:
We paddled, we paddled

a little stronger still

No hands

It is all wet!

I have a feeling that runs ...

.. and that is about to lose some

Who is which has the highest place? ;)

So we spent a wonderful day with our gang and we are eager to start today even if it was just sore all over!

End Day week at the cottage

To contrast our weekend in New York, we went with the parents of John Paul in a cottage in Eastern Townships: Owl's Head Escape. Indeed, like any good Quebecois we enjoy spending our weekends in chalets.

one of our choice was located on a lake with private dock. BBQ, pedal boat and were included.

The cottages along the water is so relaxing. Can wake up one Saturday morning in the sun and go and soak your feet in the water at 7am in the calm away from the bustle of the city, it has a very pleasant change of scenery! Especially since the previous weekend we were at the same hour in Times Square!

In preparation for our weekend, parents of John Paul went Atwater to the provisions and therefore everything came together for a great weekend which was very successful.

The lake is an ecological lake was relatively shallow. Since the month of May was very warm and beautiful, the water was very pleasant and against all odds, I got even bathed! Jean-Paul had just woken up from his nap so did not want to join me. He decided instead to go for a walk in a canoe with his father. The boat seemed unbalanced, so after a very short tour, the father of John Paul chose to disembark from the boat before it capsized. John Paul has decided to continue its ride alone but the boat was even more unbalanced. John Paul sat in the back and front of the boat does not even touch the water: there was even a foot above the water level. And the inevitable happened, taking a turn too tight, it capsized and we were good laughs! Unfortunately, I have no photos to show you because I still bathe me in spirit to that time. But as a devoted lover, I went to his aid and I towed the boat-submarine to dock ..

Basically it was a weekend filled with rest, good food and laughs. This has so much more than it returns in September and this time the party will Pookie because pets are welcome!

I have one thing to say: life is beautiful in Quebec!

New York take 4

The arrival of the parents of Jean-Paul was a good opportunity for us to go back to New York in the spring. This allowed us to complete our "collection".

remember And yes, we saw:
- New York winter for the New Year 2009 : with-30C at the top of the Empire State Building, it was believed they would die frozen.
- New York in the summer with Fabinou in summer 2009
- New York in autumn with Kylie in October 2009

It lacked only New York in the spring and now it's done!

We enjoyed a long weekend to go. This has earned us the right to do quite a queue at customs but hey, what would we do to go in the city that never sleeps.

was the first time that the parents of John Paul went to NYC so we did things well:

Times Square

The status of freedom for the Staten Island Ferry

Central Park

Park Conservancy Central Park

Episcopal Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine

The Flat Iron

Grand Central Station

Ground Zero

But it was also an opportunity:

- see NY from the top of the Top of The Rock, take pictures of tourists and s 'make new friends there

My new friend Wall-E

- playing hide and seek in Central Park

- the opportunity to use our new camera for the first time in NY and AC has been pleased to John Paul. It looked like a little reporter:

- search the statues perched on the roofs of buildings in the neighborhood of the Flat Iron. It is a work of British sculptor Antoney Gormley. There are 31 in all. On the day of their facilities, firefighters have received thousands of calls from people believing that statues were actually people who wanted to commit suicide. Of the 31, we spotted about 25, and it is not so bad!

- to regret not having gone to NY just 5 days later because Bon Jovi inaugurated the new stadium in New Jersey and thousands of posters were there for us (well me) remind

This was also an opportunity for us to go for our first visit to Brooklyn. When we return to NY it will be a wedge deeper.
So we spent a good busy weekend and we came head filled memories. We are fortunate to go to NY so easily:)
